2012 Front Yard Picnics Updated

Knowing your neighbors and keeping an eye out for each other is the cornerstone to any Crime Watch program. To that end, each year LHNA has sponsored the Front Yard Picnics. This is a great chance to meet your neighbors and make Lakewood Heights a safer and more friendly neighborhood.

Marquita & Monticello are going all out and a joint block party (with the road being closed) on Saturday, May 19th, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 6200 block of Marquita and hosted by Nathan and Katie Skinner.

LLano and Velasco have also scheduled their party for May 19th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m with Spencer Swift hosting the joint street party at 6316 Llano Ave.

LHNA provides hotdogs and sodas, and neighbors are asked to bring some sort of side item.

The first picnic kicks off this Saturday, April 14th, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for Goliad and Belmont streets. The 6200 block of Goliad will be closed to thru traffic and the party will be in front of 6225 Goliad.

LHNA provides hotdogs and sodas, and neighbors are asked to bring some sort of side item.

Join us for Stonewall Jackson’s first annual Food Truck Field Day on March 31st from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Ten of Dallas’ favorite mobile eateries will descend upon the Stonewall field for a day of tasty treats, tunes and more. $5 tickets can be purchased the day of the event and all proceeds benefit Stonewall Gardens.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon March 25

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon benefiting Susan G. Komen is coming up on Sunday, March 25, 2012.

Check out their website for specific road closures (although you can expect some back-up in the neighborhood.)

St Patrick’s Day & Lower Greenville

St Patrick’s Day is coming up this Saturday and depending on your point of view, it’s either a great excuse to party or a huge nuisance as the chaos of Lower Greenville extends it’s way to our neighborhood. (Or in the case of at least one neighbor of mine, it’s his birthday.)
