Important City Budget Meeting Tonite!
LHNA residents are encouraged to attend an important city budget meeting, with Dallas City Council Members Angela Hunt and Sheffie Kadane, Thursday, August 12 at 6:30 pm at the St. Thomas Aquinas drama room, 3741 Abrams Road. Closings (Tietze Park Pool?) and cutbacks in services (Lakewood Library?) that can effect Lakewood Heights neighborhood are being considered.
According to the Dallas Morning News:
“Libraries and parks are getting hit again this year in the proposed Dallas city budget. Some council members are proposing raising taxes before implementing more cuts. Read about it in this report from city hall reporter Rudolph Bush. What do you think?
Council members and other officials will talk about the city budget at several town hall meetings this month. Be warned: Rudy notes that these meeting can be informative but not necessarily a great platform for residents who want to be heard. But council member Angela Hunt said in Saturday’s report that she wants to meet with residents before deciding whether to support a tax increase.”
